Base Framework
Fabricated from mild steel plates and sections, to British Standard specification, suitably machined.
Shafts
Forged high tensile steel to SAE 1045 specification or equivalent.
Bearings
Roller or ball bearing sealed units, or cast steel block to British Std BS 3100 GR A3 fitted with phosphor bronze bushes, to accommodate loading.
Grease lubrication provided.
Cable Lifters
Manufactured in cast steel to British Standard BS 3100 GR 4.
Barrels
Fabricated from steel plates and pipes to British Standard specification.
Barrel plates machined and fitted to core before welding with deep penetration system. Brake drum welded integrally with the barrel flange.
Barrels are designed to accommodate the full length of rope in required number of layers with an additional over spill space of two layers.
Brakes
External band type operating on 'wrap-up' principle. Brake linings of marine grade non-asbestos materials are used.
Hand operated through screw linkage. Remote hydraulic operation can be provided with 'fail-safe to on facility in the event of hydraulic pressure sysstem failure.
Clutches
Cast steel two or four jaw type to suit design loadings, sliding on machined hexagonal section of the shaft.
Suitable for hand operation. Remote control can be provided for the drum.
Warping Drums
Manufactured in cast steel to British Std BS 3100 GR4.
Gears
All gears would be of the straight spur tooth type or enclosed reduction gearbox type. Metal protection guards are provided. Gears are grease lubricated manually.
Motors
Winches can be driven by hydraulic, electric or pneumatic motors suitable for marine environment. Motors are removable without major dismantling of winch components, permiting exchange of units for servicing.
Finish
Fabrications and castings are sand blasted to Swedish Standard S.A. 2.5 before painting with one coat of primer and two finishing coats.
Test Certificates
All winches can be designed to classification society specifications and are subjected to full load test before despatch. Plimsoll Robertson Test Certificates and standard warranty will be issued.
Class certification can be provided upon request from Lloyd's, USCG, ABS, DNV, BV, NK, GL, BKI, ZC, etc.
